Neo, what is the KLF?

Producerduoen KLF væltede i '91 verden med albummet The White Room - et af de vigtigste albums i elektronisk musik nogensinde. Kæmpehits som What Time Is Love?, 3 A.M. Eternal, Last Train To Trancentral og Justified And Ancient blev herhjemme udgivet på Kenneth Bagers COMA Records. Wanda Dee udgjorde performancedelen af KLF, the original voice of KLF, i videoerne og med live shows i over 150 lande. Wanda Dee forklarer om det fem mand store performance show: "The show is part rock concert, part Broadway show, part kung fu movie and part Las Vegas review. The show contains 5 costume changes, glamour, glitz, martial arts, acrobatics, live singing and live rapping."

In the early ‘90’s producers Bill Drummond and Jim Cauty (Kopyright Liberation Front) was ripping of the music industry big time in organised sonic piracy, lifting long passages from everyone from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin and ABBA. Lawsuits was as frequent as rent.

The producerduo are renowned mainly for only one scandalous live appearance at the ’92 Brit Awards. Shocking the formal audiance with a hardcore thrash version of monster hit “3 A.M. Eternal” Drummond finished of the performance by spraying the stunned crowd with an assault riffle loaded with blanks and a “KLF has left the music industry.” Later that night the zenarchistic duo dropped of a dead sheep and eight gallons of blood in the hotel lobby of the after party and went on to burn a million pounds in cash on a Scotish island in some artzy protest/stunt. But that’s a different story altogether.

No, it was the vocal powerhouse of Wanda Dee that brought KLF to life in videos and energetic live shows across the world. No stranger to showbizz this DJ Kool Herc protegé, Africa Bombaataa appointed First Female of Zulu Nation, Harry Belafonte hand picked dj star in the ’84 classic hip hop flick Beat Street and Supremes related singer boosted The KLF’s The White Room album to be one of the most important albums ever in electronic music with immortal hits like “What Time Is Love”, “3 A.M. Eternal” and “Last Train To Transcentral”. Bill Drummond and Jim Cauty will explicitly not be part of the show Saturday 7 august.
